What Is On Your Radar?
If you put what you want on your radar, you will notice it when it appears before you.
If you prioritize what you want over other preferences and habitual preferences — and are consequent about it and give yourself no excuse to “miss” and ignore it — what you want will enter your field of vision.
When you decide “I want to see this”, “this” (quality) will stand out to you.
If, on the other hand, you genuinely want to complain that what you want is “not there”, “no longer there”, you will have a lot of reasons to complain — because your radar is influenced by your desire to complain. Check yourself before you keep repeating that something is missing — you haven’t put your mind to it.
Nowadays, a lot of people love to complain and pity themselves. Instead of searching for, and detecting, what they want, they keep themselves in a state of unworthiness and keep playing old tapes in their minds in order to convince themselves that the effort to become worthy of it is futile.
We all have engaged in such patterns before. You can do something about it, once you become aware of it.
Imagine going to a library to find specific information about a topic or a certain book. You can browse the material to find what you are looking for, and you will. Or you can sit in the library, surrounded by books, complain that you have to read, complain about what bothers you about the interior, complain that the books you pick up only confirm what you already knew, complain that there are too many books, yadda yadda yadda. Once you notice that what you came for requires that you do research, you have the option to keep complaining to yourself and fight your own research, or you can do your research. Of course, it does not present itself on a silver platter, and it takes discipline, but your radar will change after you give yourself permission to find what you want.
The analogy of the library for the abundance of the (already documented) human experience helps to understand how you can take control of your mind and of your focus and, thereby, of your destiny.
