People who feel cared for by their counselor, therapist, coach can face a challenge that sounds like: "What made you think this way? When was the first time you felt that way.." and let these questions be the beginning of an exploration of their memories. In fact, it is good for people to hear that their conclusion that they "are unworthy" are not everyone's reality or perception, that they are highly subjective and therefore can be altered.

I agree with you that there are fresh therapeutic / crash course therapeutic methods, even mindfulness exercices for these situations. You also know many more than I do.. or have applied, in the past.

I have to say that even with clients who had histories with difficult, tragic and sad elements, many were open to what the future had in store for them, and looked forward to a better quality of life.

The ones who felt chronically "unworthy" of the good that life had to offer were survivors of heavy abuse, usually sexual abuse in the families of origin or extreme violence in the community, which was followed by acting out in adolescence. Or they were people who grew up in poverty and neglect, and then found themselves in a totally different situation, economically, professionally, socially, and noticed that their childhoods did impact them - when they had to make decisions.

Such traumatic experiences are not exactly everyone's background.

..

My writing above was actually not meant to be so complicated.. or for the ingrained patterns of self-sabotage in every single part of our existence.

I wrote it about the part of life that belongs to our life's dearest dream. That, when an opportunity presents itself, to go for it - whether one feels ready or not, whether one has self-doubts or not.

When a door opens, it is a good time to leap.

You can analyze later :) what you felt and how you overcame "a lot of stuff", in order to get through that door.

It was an encouragement to act... To not overthink. To show up for it.
