Earth Send On 15 December 2023
Welcome to today’s Earth Send. I thank everyone who is participating in our meditation for the well-being of all life on earth and in our reiki session for all who have asked for support and are ready to receive it. Non-practitioners can simply send good energy, warm wishes, gratitude and light to this circle, to the situations that have come to their attention and to their personal goals.
In the last weeks, I kept asking for reiki, not knowing that a difficult situation would come to a head with a hard fall that left me bruised, in pain, and with an injured foot.
There is no way around it: life wants me to slow down and not rush, until I am well and strong again.
I want to remind our practitioners that we can reiki challenging situations and (our own) organs and body parts with the distant healing symbol.
Reiki will flow to where it is needed and toward restoration — even if our minds misinterpret what needs mending. The universal life is intelligent, more intelligent and wholesome than all our concepts, and it reaches and treats the root cause.
Self-treatments get to all our cells. When we give ourselves reiki self-treatments on a regular basis, the universal life energy saturates our organism. Self-treatments are a sublime self-care routine. We benefit directly and cumulatively from our practice.
If you enjoy the sensation of palms on your body, you can create it by sending reiki to yourself in the way you would send reiki to a person in another room or far away. For example, you can send reiki to your ankle — as I keep doing now, to my injury. You can send reiki to all hard to reach and locate organs, to the circulatory and lymphatic system, to the nervous system and brain, and so on. If you have a diagnosis, you can send reiki to the affected organ and to the self-healing agents within that organ. Play with the distant healing symbol. And, if you feel inclined, add the power symbol and the balance / key symbol, too.
Why it is practical to use distant healing on you, too:
you can rest and relax and let reiki flow, even when noone else can treat you. You can reiki unnoticeably by resting your palms on a bag, or in your pockets, while in traffic or in waiting rooms, on a notebook while you sit near a screen, in the audience, at an event that you sit out and perhaps do not need to interact a lot at, and reiki can go out to multiple causes at once…
Discreet reiki works just as well as a conventional session.
I have been practising discreet reiki since the 1990s. I wrote exams while giving reiki to myself; I watched movies that didn’t appeal to me (and stuck around for the company only); I sat in vehicles with “little to do” before arriving at my destination; I even went house or flat hunting, while letting reiki flow into the space. I poured reiki into workshop rooms before class to welcome the optimal experience for all participants with plenty of laughter and joy. I prepare food with reiki.
17 years ago, I was faced with a move on ultra short notice, and before going to bed on that last night in the house, I noticed that I would only get a good night’s sleep, if my feet warmed up and relaxed. I was exhausted from the giant job I had done and I craved sleep, but my freezing feet and the mental stress about the next day kept me up. All I could come up with was to give my feet distant reiki. As soon as reiki started to flow, my feet warmed up and relaxed, and I drifted off to sleep minutes later. My feet were like new in the morning! I needed it. I had to manage the movers and clean up after them, lock the place and drop off the keys, and get out to the station on time.
By then, I was used to experimenting with reiki, of course. But good ideas and urgency almost never go hand in hand. It is good to reflect on the possibilities when we are not stressed, not meeting deadlines, not completing tasks that demand our full attention, and when our minds are calm and open. The time will come when you will depend on a great idea that you had when you were serene and in an alpha state of mind.
Luckily, I had the presence of mind that night to send distant reiki to my feet. (The alternative would have been to toss and turn for hours and go through the next day cranky and sleep deprived.) That taught me that I can treat myself as I would another person, and that there was no need to contort myself, that I could let the energy flow from the position of ultimate comfort, just lying down and expecting to fall asleep soon.
A decade before that move, my reiki teacher was firm about writing all our healing goals into a notebook and letting reiki do its thing, letting reiki flow through that notebook of all our requests and aspirations.
At first, it seemed like a complex process to me that suited people who were older than me (my teacher then was just a bit older than I am today, and our group of peers was closer to her age, too!) and hardly someone like me who hadn’t learned the art of sitting still. I was a high energy person. With practice, I learned to sit still, though, and I learned that the most streamlined and potent way to send reiki was to one container that held all my healing requests and aims. Checking off stories that got resolved or cleared up, checking off full recoveries, checking off remarkable and seemingly serendipitous manifestations was very satisfying. In one spot, I could see my successes, I could trace my evolution as a practitioner, I could gauge which approach of several had brought the best results.
Keep a notebook if you want to develop in your practice!
The main obstacle to documenting your reiki cases, as I see it, is that people imagine that there will not be much to write about, that growth is too slow and too subtle to put in words and that writing down objectives, your newest and recent objectives again and again, is perhaps not exciting enough.
Break your resistance to it, and give it a try! That is all I can say. You will be surprised what you can learn and how one solution addresses multiple issues at once. You will know that only when you gave it a try.
Keeping track of what you have focused on in your practice will add new layers to your perception and will show you the precept of “ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE” in action. Having one place to write your reiki projects into is neat. (It curbs the chaos of random, uncooked thoughts, harum-scarum self-assessments, preverbal ideas and other mind chatter.)
I did take a break from writing into notebooks. For a few years, I practised reiki on people and animals, on rivers and water bodies, on subjects and on disposable lists. I returned to writing into a notebook again. I am glad that I am back to what works well for me.
Notebooks can hold all requests for recovery, more harmony, thorough healing and freedom from specific conditions, spontaneous sketches that are shorthand for our action maps and wish lists, some emerging interests and course corrections, and the expression of what we want to see happen in our practice and in our life, too.
Please know that my suggestions to work with distant healing again are meant to refresh and inspire your own way of doing things, processing and solving your topics. You do not have to do what I have done, or what the teachers you have met recommended; but if you have a few bright ideas while reading this, try them, and soon. I am known to stimulate sterling ideas in my listeners and readers.
I am grateful to all who have been sending friendly support to my healing. I will let you know when I am walking with ease again.
May this Friday pour supreme contentment and profound gratitude for your life into you.
Have a beautiful December.
In gassho,
I humbly receive.
