Black-capped orioles, so-called Baltimore orioles, are among the first birds to show up as the cold weather turns to spring in Ontario. I love them. I love their songs and their fabulous plumage.

Here, they don't seem to be too shy. In fact, I have watched a number of orioles land on my balcony. I have put up bird feeders for the last decade or so, near my plants, and they might have been drawn to the location too because of the bright "fiery" colours of the flowers.

Try to offer some orange halves, Mamunur. The orioles will come.

You can also plant a few local berry bushes to attract them to the garden.
